The Guild, founded in 1986, is an organisation of around 70 people who love wood and love to make things with it. We welcome new members, especially young men and women woodworkers into our ranks.
Our home and workshop is a spare classroom at Cosgrove High School in Glenorchy.
Guild activities include workshop sessions, site visits and excursions, member's show and tell, guest speakers and demonstrators and participation in fairs and exhibitions. The Guild has a library of woodworking books, magazines and videos, and a regular newsletter.
The Guild workshop is well equipped with benches, modern machinery (edger, thicknesser, sanders, four lathes, drills, table saw, router table, two bandsaws and hand tools), comprehensive dust extraction and an office. This workshop is available for use by all of our members.
The following activities are regularly conducted at our workshop:
1. Box making
3. Toy boat and plane sessions, in preparation for a children's activity at the Hobart Show
The Guild's workshop is open on the first and third Saturday morning of each month for members to use club equipment.
These are photos of our newly purchased equipment for the Guild workshop, these will assist the members in their woodworking projects.
